Norendro Nath Sen

(1843-?) (Norenranāth). An influential Bengali who was a close friend of Helena P. BLAVATSKY and Henry S. OLCOTT, two of the founders of the Theosophical Society. He was born on February 23, 1843. Norendro was for a considerable time editor of the periodical Indian Mirror and was at pains to publish lengthy reports of the lectures and other material provided by early theosophists. The Indian Mirror was at one time the leading daily newspaper, particularly in the political arena.

Norendro received a number of letters from the Master Koot Hoomi (see Letters from the Masters of the Wisdom, 2nd series). His son has told of occasions when Norendro would work late at night correcting proofs and, falling asleep over his work, would wake up to find the work corrected in blue pencil, presumably by K. H. Norendro was a strong supporter of the Mahābodhi Society.
