Paranirvāna

“Beyond nirvāna.” In the writings of Helena P. BLAVATSKY, it refers to the state of cosmic rest or mahā-pralaya, and equated it with paraïishpanna (absolute perfection) during the unmanifested state of the universe (SD I:42). Charles W. LEADBEATER equates this state with the Anupādaka plane, or the plane above the Ātmic plane.

As a concept it is to be distinguished from Buddhist parinirvāna (parinibbana [P]), which refers to the state of liberation of an enlightened person after he dies or leaves behind the physical body.
